 Climate and Ecology
Darrington and the surrounding area is enveloped by the Cascade Mountain Range, and borders the Mt. Baker National Forest. The
temperature is usually 10 degrees (F) warmer than Seattle/Everett in the Summer, and 10-degrees cooler in the Winter. This means that our weather
usually ranges somewhere between 30-50 (F) in the winter, and 60-80 (F) in the summer.

Winter brings approximately 10-15 days of snow, and
lots of rain. The town sits at approximately 700 feet above sea-level, while Whitehorse Mountain (towering over the town) is 6,854 feet tall.
The Sauk and North Fork of the Stillaguamish rivers flow nearby, and they both offer some great fly-fishing.
There are both deciduous and evergreen trees in the area, and some of the evergreens (Doulgas Firs) seem to be 150 or more feet tall.
The town of Darrington is quite flat
and is on sandy/rocky soil left by a lake created by volcanic activity awhile back. Since then, the river has shifted (away from town), causing the lake to dry up,
leaving Darrington with a beautiful, flat base for a town.
